Calendula

My adorable Calendula babies are ready to plant into the herb garden at the Farm! Calendula is a beautiful flower with many health benefits, and it's a great addition to any garden or bouquet.

Calendula, also known as pot marigold, is a bright and cheerful flower that comes in a range of colors, including shades of yellow, orange, and gold. It's a hardy plant that's easy to grow, and it can be found at flower farms, farmers markets, and farm stands.

One of the best things about calendula is its medicinal properties. For centuries, this herb has been used to treat a wide range of ailments, including inflammation, cuts and bruises, and skin conditions like eczema and acne. Calendula contains compound which have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can help soothe and heal the skin.

If you're interested in using calendula for its health benefits, there are a few different methods. One common method is to infuse the dried flowers in oil, which can then be used in balms, salves, and creams. You can also make a tea using the dried flowers, which can be used as a rinse for the hair or as a soothing drink. This summer, when it’s ready, I plan to infuse the oil for a body care product or two, but I’m also excited about blending it into custom teas & even a custom bath soak.

In addition to its medicinal benefits, calendula is also great for any garden or landscape. It's easy to grow, and it attracts all sorts of pollinators, like bees and butterflies. Plus, its bright, vibrant colors add a pop of visual interest to any garden.

If you’re interested in growing your own, you can start calendula from seed. Once you have your calendula plants established, they're relatively low-maintenance and should continue to produce beautiful flowers throughout the growing season.

If you're not interested in growing your own calendula, you can usually find it at your local farmers market or farm stand. You can purchase fresh calendula flowers, which can be used in cooking or for medicinal purposes.

One of the best things about using calendula is that it's a natural alternative to many conventional medications and treatments. Instead of relying on synthetic chemicals, calendula can provide natural relief for a variety of ailments. Plus, it's generally considered safe and well-tolerated, making it a great choice for people of all ages. Be sure to check with a qualified herbalist or physician before using calendula in a medicinal way.

Calendula is a beautiful and versatile herb that offers many medicinal benefits and functions as a beautiful cut flower for bouquets. I can’t wait to get these baby plants into their new home!
